The Parakiore sports facility in Christchurch will be the largest aquatic and indoor recreation and leisure venue of its kind in New Zealand and we are delighted to be have been involved in this exciting project.

The complex will be well equipped to host local national and international events and is located in the heart of the city.

We have been engaged to apply a variety of coatings across the project including but not limited to epoxy and thin film intumescent, concrete coatings, timber intumescent and sealing of structures in the swimming pool environment

The project suffered a long delay due to unforeseen ground conditions and although our contract works were substantially completed within the first 18months of the project, Cake were kept on as the ‘go to’ contractor to remediate and damage, re-coat sports courts and plant room structure up to required architectural standard after main trades were complete.

This project had it all and tested us to the full. Having to manage different products in different environment from the basement to the roof to pool halls and fitness centres required an immense amount of dedication, perseverance and stamina.

And another thing……. The Door Manufacturer did not have the capability to coat their frames up to C4 protection so we built a spray booth in their warehouse and coated 126 fames using a Dulux and Resene system all in time to meet the project deadlines.
