Cake were recently engaged by a client to provide our specialist Asbestos Removal services in the remediation of a rural School near Nelson, New Zealand.
An amount of highly friable Asbestos pipe lagging was found to be insulating pipework underneath the School’s classrooms as part of the heating system. Cake’s Asbestos Removalists were tasked with safely entering the confined space below the classrooms and removing the identified Asbestos materials. Access points to the underfloors were carefully sealed to ensure that the classrooms were not contaminated, and our team worked carefully to double bag the Asbestos so that it could be safely transported to and disposed of at an appropriate waste facility.
Included in the scope of Cake’s work for this project was the School’s boiler stack. The stack was found to have an internal Flue containing Asbestos which required it to be removed completely from the site.
With the Asbestos lagging and stack removed from the site, our team concluded our works with an environmental clean of the area and a strip out of the boiler room to eliminate any remaining Asbestos contaminants.
Cake are proud to have worked professionally and effectively with the client to successfully remediate the School of the identified Asbestos containing materials.
