Project Description

Cake were engaged by Canterbury District Health Board to carry out the Encapsulation of all roofing areas of the Parkside Building at Christchurch Hospital to prevent water penetration issues. For this project, our team of asbestos removal workers undertook a detailed clean of approximately 4000m2 of the original asbestos roofing membrane and gutter systems across the entire roof, ensuring that the surfaces were prepared to the highest standard to allow our painting teams to apply our specified encapsulation coating system (Noxyde). The job required detailed planning and sequencing to consider weather variances, ongoing roof and pipe maintenance, working at heights, and specialist abseiling access to several areas. The project was completed within budget and to the client’s satisfaction over the course of 6 months.
